Anti Snap Lock Installation

Anti Snap Lock Installation in Birmingham by SJO Locksmiths

Lock snapping is a common technique that is used by burglars to break into a property by snapping cylinders on UPVC and composite doors, this has become a prevalent way for intruders to gain access to properties. There is an ever increasing number of burglaries in Birmingham that occur due to easy snap cylinders, this means it has never been more important to protect your home against lock snapping burglaries.

Standard Lock Cylinders

Standard lock cylinders that are used in the majority of UK homes are easy to snap using physical force and intruders can gain access into your property in seconds. When force is applied to the cylinder it snaps in two and exposes the locking mechanism, which a burglar can manipulate to unlock the door and gain entry to your property.

Securing Your Property

To secure your property from intruders, you should upgrade your lock cylinders to higher security anti-snap cylinders. In contrast to standard cylinders, anti-snap cylinders have a sacrificial snap line cut into the cylinder. When force is applied, the cylinder is designed to snap off at this anti-snap line but leave the locking mechanism intact to keep your door secure and prevent a break-in.
